Our educators use How Does Learning Happen? โ Ontario's Pedagogy for the Early Years โ built around four foundational conditions for children to grow and flourish.
Each child is valued for their individuality. Staff interact with toddlers in a warm, caring manner, building strong relationships with children and families. Every child experiences connectedness in the classroom. Children's artwork is displayed and regularly changed to support current interests. Photo albums help children reflect on past experiences.
We address the importance of physical and mental health and wellness. Our routines โ meals, rest, diapering, outdoor play, and transitions โ are thoughtfully planned to support each toddler's self-care, sense of self, and self-regulation skills. Families are viewed as important contributors with unique knowledge, experiences, and strengths.
Toddlers are naturally curious. We provide a safe environment where they can explore, take reasonable risks, and test their limits using their bodies, minds, and senses. Active play supports exploration, competency, and resilience. Transitions are smooth, and children practice self-help skills throughout the day.
We support growing communication skills through language-rich environments, stories, songs, finger plays, and group circle time โ twice daily. We respect diverse languages and cultures within our community, and proudly celebrate each child's heritage, ensuring every child feels valued and heard.
